A Dell Inc. director and former president of AT&T has been ordered to pay $12 million to what is left of an Internet company that he headed until shortly before it filed for bankruptcy.

Bankruptcy filings increase in 2007 (WOI-TV Des Moines)

DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) - A jump in the number of bankruptcy filings in Iowa could continue if the economy continues to falter. The state had a record number of bankruptcy filings in 2005, when more than 18,000 consumers rushed to file before a new federal law went into effect.
